🔄 To Pivot or keep going

🔄 To Pivot or keep going
"The turning point came when I started with my passion project—mentoring."

We all face the question: Should I keep going, or is it time to quit?

There's advice on both sides: "If it's not working, pivot!" or "Stick with it until it clicks!" The truth? Both are valid—and confusing.

What makes the difference is resolve. And the kind of resolve that lasts usually comes from one of two places:

đź’Ş

Deep Belief

You believe to your core that it will work.

Pure Love

You love doing it so much that you'd keep going even if it never "worked."

That's how I found mentoring.

From Burnout to Breakthrough

I had built products, launched businesses, and hustled hard—only to abandon most of them. Why? Because I didn't care deeply about what I was building. I wasn't a user, a fan, or an advocate. I was chasing outcomes, not alignment.

Mentoring changed that.

This time, I wasn't doing it for a title, a salary, or recognition. I was doing it because I enjoyed it. I was proud of it. It energized me. And that changed everything.

Passion Makes You Magnetic

When you're genuinely lit up by what you do, people notice. They want to work with you. Opportunities start aligning because your energy is contagious—and real.

That doesn't mean it gets easy. It just means it gets worth it.

The Choice: Persistence vs. Pivot

The animated illustration above perfectly captures this dilemma. One miner keeps digging in the same rocky terrain, while another has moved to discover a treasure trove of diamonds. Both approaches can be right—it depends on your situation and what drives you.

The Three Questions That Matter

If you're stuck wondering whether to pivot or persevere, ask:

1

Do I believe in this deeply?

2

Would I still do it with no guarantee of success?

3

Am I proud of what I'm creating?

If the answer is yes, you've probably found your thing. And if it's mentoring—welcome to the club.

Why Mentoring Feels Different

Mentoring isn't like other career moves. It's not about climbing a ladder or hitting metrics. It's about human connection, growth, and the deep satisfaction that comes from helping someone else succeed.

When you mentor someone and see them breakthrough a challenge, land a new role, or gain confidence—that's not just professional success. That's personal fulfillment.

At Minerva Mentoring, we've seen this transformation happen countless times. People who were burned out on traditional career paths find renewed energy and purpose through mentoring relationships.

Finding Your Passion Project

Maybe mentoring isn't your passion project—and that's okay. But the principle remains: find something you'd do even without external rewards, something that energizes rather than drains you.

The world needs more people who are genuinely excited about what they're building. And when you find that thing, you'll know—because you won't want to quit, even when it gets hard.
